"Same-day service at a fair price for a tension spring. Exactly what you want when the door won't open."
★★★★★ Ben H. — Google reviewMost KC garage door companies are closed. We're not.
Drive past any garage door shop in Johnson or Jackson County on a Saturday afternoon and you'll see the same thing: lights off, trucks parked. Most companies in the Kansas City metro take weekend messages and dispatch on Monday. A few big franchises run limited weekend windows. If your spring snapped Friday night, that usually means a weekend of lifting a 150-pound door by hand — or a car trapped until Monday.
We decided to fix that the direct way: Garage Door Masters KC staffs a dedicated weekend technician, available all weekend, with a stocked truck. Not an answering service that takes your name — a tech who shows up.
What we fix on Saturdays and Sundays
- Broken springs — the classic weekend failure. That gunshot bang from the garage was the torsion spring letting go. Replaced in pairs, wound to your door's weight, same day. All common sizes ride on the weekend truck.
- Doors that won't open or close — stops halfway, reverses, or won't respond at all. Often a spring, sensor alignment, or opener issue we can diagnose in minutes.
- Cars trapped in the garage — we'll get the door up safely and repaired so you're mobile before Monday.
- Snapped or frayed cables — a door hanging crooked on one cable is one cycle away from jumping the tracks. Weekend-fixable.
- Doors off track — bent or jumped rollers, usually after a bumper tap or an obstruction.
- Opener failures — dead units, grinding drives, remotes that quit.

Why garage doors love to break on weekends
It isn't your imagination. Weekend mornings are when a garage door works hardest — errands, kids' games, yard projects, all stacking cycles back to back. A torsion spring rated for 10,000 cycles doesn't fail gently at cycle 10,001; it fails on the busiest morning of the week. Kansas City's temperature swings make it worse: steel springs lose a little resilience with every hard cold snap and every 100-degree August afternoon, and the first heavy-use morning after a swing is when marginal springs let go.
That's also why the second-most-common weekend call is "it was fine yesterday." It usually was. Fatigue failures don't announce themselves.
How a weekend visit works
- Call or text (913) 731-0190. A real person answers on weekends. Weekend and emergency visits are arranged by phone — that's how we triage the problem and load the right parts before rolling.
- We dispatch the weekend truck. You get a realistic arrival window, not "sometime Monday."
- Flat $79 service call. Same as a weekday, credited toward the repair. You approve the price before any work starts.
- Fixed the same day in the large majority of weekend calls — springs, cables, track and opener parts are on the truck.

Weekend garage door repair — questions we hear every Saturday
Do you really answer the phone on weekends?
Yes — a live person, not a voicemail. Weekend staffing is a deliberate part of how we run the company, because a garage door that fails Saturday morning shouldn't wait until Monday.
Do you charge extra on Saturdays or Sundays?
No weekend surcharge. The $79 service call is the same as a weekday and goes toward the repair. Only after-hours emergency calls carry an additional emergency fee.
Can you replace a broken spring on a Sunday?
Yes. Springs are the most common weekend job we run. All common torsion sizes are on the truck, and we replace springs in pairs so both sides wear evenly.
My car is trapped and I work Monday morning. How fast can you come?
Call now — trapped cars get priority. In most of the metro a weekend tech can be out the same day and have the door releasing, lifting and closing safely before the weekend is over.
Why is booking by phone only on weekends?
Weekend and emergency work is triaged live so the tech rolls with the right parts the first time. Two minutes on the phone usually saves a second trip.
What if my door needs a part you don't carry?
We tell you straight, get the door safe and secured, and schedule the finish visit at the front of the weekday line — you're never left with an open garage overnight.
Broken door this weekend? Don't wait for Monday.
A real person answers, Saturday and Sunday included.
